Recipe Box: How to Prepare Pulagam \Green Gram Rice

Ingredients

Rice - 1 ½ cup

Green gram - ½ cup dal,

Turmeric powder – Pinch

Salt – Salt to taste

Water- 6 cups.

Note: Ideally for ¾ cup Rice, ¼ cup green gram dal required and 3 cups of water for Electric Rice cooker.

Procedure:

Take a rice bowl; add rice, dal and start cleaning with water.

Once cleaned, add salt and turmeric powder.

Add 6 cups of water and let it cook till the rice is ready.

You can cook the rice however the procedure you want, but use water as same as the way you use for preparation of normal rice.

Recipe Box: How to prepare peanuts chutney

Ingredients

Peanuts – half cup

Jaggery – 2tbsp

Salt – salt to taste

Dry coconut slices – ¼ cup

Oil – 1tbsp

Onion – 2 (Finely Chopped)

Tamarind water – lemon size tamarind

Chana Dal – ½ tbsp.

Urad dal – ½ tbsp.

Curry leaves – 3, Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp. mustard seeds- ½ tbsp.

Dried Red chilies – 2

Water – half cup


Procedure:

1) Take a mixer bowl; add peanuts, jaggery, salt, dry coconut slices grind to a fine powder.

2) Add Tamarind water and again grind it to a thick paste

3) Shift the paste to a bowl

4) Take a small pan, add oil and heat it. Add Chana Dal, urad dal, Cumin, Mustard seeds, Dry red chilies, curry leaves and fry them until it becomes golden color.

5) Now add all the fried ingredients to the paste and mix well.

6) Add freshly and finely chopped Onions and mix well with hand and add half cup water. Mix well.

Recipe Box: How to Prepare Tomato Chutney:

Ingredients:

Onion – 2(Sliced)

Tomato – 6(Sliced)

Dry Coconut – Small Cup (Slices)

Fried Pea nuts – ¼ Cup

Chilies - 4

Garlic – 6 Cloves

Oil – 3tbsp

Tamarind – lemon size

Turmeric powder – pinch

Salt – Salt to taste

Procedure:

1) Heat pan, add 2tbsp oil, Garlic, Chilies and fry until ingredients becomes light golden color,

2) Add Onion and fry until onion slices becomes transparent. Once it’s ready cool it.

3) Once it is cool, separate all the ingredients as we will be adding Fried onions in the End and chilies and garlic will be used to grind it.

4) In the same pan, add 1tbsp oil – heat it and add Tomato slices, Tamarind, turmeric powder. Close the lid and cook until tomato cooked , once tomato cooked remove the lid and let it cook for another 5 min or until all water evaporates.

5) Now take a Mixer bowl, add Peanuts, dry coconut slices, Chilies, garlic, salt. Grind it to fine powder.

6) Now add the tomato mixture to the mixer bowl and grind it until it becomes thick paste.

7) Once the paste is ready add fried onion and mix well. Tomato chutney is ready.

Sankey tank was constructed by Col. Of the Madras Sappers Regiment, in 1882, to meet the water supply demands of Bangalore. The tank was also known as Gandhadhakotikere, as the Government Sandalwood Depot used to be located near the lake.

My Visit Details:

Saturday Evening was feeling bored in home so immediately we planned for a visit to this place.

Started around 4 PM and reached there around 4:45 PM. Route: Electronic city -> Silk board -> MG Road-> Ali Asker road -> Sankey’s Road -> Sankey Tank.

When I saw this place for a first time, I felt like I am visiting small tank bund like Hyderabad tank bund which is Lake surrounded by road. Love the place.

It’s very good place for evening walk\ morning walk. We can see people came for evening walk with families.

Also we can go for boating with kids too. Timings will be 6 am to 10 am and 12 PM to 5 PM. You may choose to take a boat to an island and relax there for a certain time

Also we can get snacks and chats for time pass but food is not allowed in the park.
